Tait was born and raised in DeKalb graduating from DeKalb High School in 1994. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Dayton in 1998. Upon graduation from college, Tait enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in a rapid deployment, combined arms task force of the 1st Cavalry Division for three years, including a combat deployment to the Middle East. For his military service, Tait was awarded The Army Achievement Medal, (3 times), the Army Commendation Medal, and the Combined Joint Task Force, Expeditionary Forces Medal.
Upon returning to DeKalb following his honorable discharge from the military, Tait enrolled in the Northern Illinois University College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2004. While in Law School, Tait also served as Lead Articles Editor of the NIU Law Review and as president of Phi Delta Phi, the international legal honors fraternity. Tait spent his first 6 years in practice at a general practice firm in DuPage County. Tait’s current practice areas include Family Law, Commercial Law, and general Civil Litigation in State and Federal Courts. Tait is also a certified mediator in the State of Illinois.
Tait has served as a director for the Boards of the Red Cross, the Lions Club, and Hope Haven, including serving as President of the Lions Club and Chair of the Hope Haven Board. Tait is the founder and director of the T. Jordan Gallagher Legal Clinic at Hope Haven, a program providing legal advice and services to the homeless and indigent of DeKalb County. Tait is also a volunteer attorney for CASA DeKalb County.
Tait is a member of the American Bar Association, The Illinois State Bar Association, the Kane and DeKalb County Bar Associations, and the VFW.
