Kevin E. Buick, Partner
Kevin E. Buick has practiced law in the DeKalb County community for over twenty years. He grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, but his family migrated west to the Rocky Mountains during his high school years. After graduating from high school in Vail, Colorado in 1982, he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, spending his college summers on the family’s cattle ranch on the western slope. Upon graduating from CU, he returned to the Midwest to attend law school at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
Kevin joined this firm as a law clerk in the summer of 1989. After graduating from law school and passing the bar in 1990, he accepted a position as an associate attorney in the firm and became a partner in 1994.
He has spent the last two decades representing clients in diverse areas of the law including; general business matters, real estate, banking, personal injury, criminal law, civil litigation, and estate planning and administration. A significant portion of his practice at present; however, is focused on municipal and local government law, as well as zoning and land use matters. He works with cities, villages, townships, libraries, and other subsidiary bodies. This includes serving as primary legal counsel for the communities of Kingston, Malta, Maple Park, Cortland, and Sandwich. He also works directly with the Sycamore Plan Commission, the Sycamore Fire and Police Commission, and the Liquor Commissioner for the City of Sycamore.
Mr. Buick is a former DeKalb County zoning hearing officer and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Waterman State Bank in Waterman, Illinois. He is actively involved in charitable and community-oriented affairs. Mr. Buick has formerly volunteered on the Boards of the Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, Opportunity House, and C.A.S.A. of DeKalb County. He is a former President of the DeKalb County Board of Health. He presently serves on the Executive Committee of the DeKalb County Community Foundation and sits on the Boards of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, the Sycamore Economic Development Commission, and Pay It Forward House, NFP.
